Quality Remodeling Services in La Quinta

Acacia homes in La Quinta went up between 1997 and 2000. The Casitas Las Rosas condos followed in 2003. Both landed close to the city’s median home age, built in 1999. Bathroom Remodeling in La Quinta often means updating a bathroom with its original tub, tile, and shower. The fixtures were fine for their decade. Small showers and dated tile show up again and again. Most homeowners want something different now.

A tub almost nobody uses is the most common complaint we hear. Many of these homes were built around a standard tub-shower combo. The shower stall is often too small for anyone over six feet. Two decades of daily use leaves grout lines darker. Tile patterns start to read as dated instead of intentional. The fix starts with the layout, not just the finishes. Once the layout works for how you actually shower, the tile and fixtures follow.

We plan every La Quinta bathroom around a paid design and pre-construction phase, the design agreement, before any demolition starts. It locks your layout, your tile, and your fixtures. Your price gets set there too, not afterward. Design, project management, and construction all happen under one roof, and we keep core trades like framing in-house. Our owner, Rick Lua, framed houses himself before earning his license. We hold a California B General Building Contractor license, number 999955.

What Homeowners Ask For Most

Rain shower heads, heated floors, and custom tile layouts come up most in this design phase. So do tiled shower ceilings and built-in shower benches. A walk-in shower with a bench often replaces a tub that has sat unused for years. Heated floors matter on the nights this desert cools off fast. That happens even after a hot day near La Quinta Civic Center Park. It happens on a cool morning walk around Lake Cahuilla County Park too.

Bathroom work is usually interior only. It moves differently than an addition or a new roofline. Homes near Santa Rosa Cove or in North La Quinta may still need a quick HOA look. That happens only if the project touches a window or vent stack that shows outside. Otherwise, the review most gated communities require does not apply inside your own walls.

Our History in La Quinta

For a La Quinta bathroom more than 20 years old, the design phase decides three things before any demolition starts: what stays, what goes, and what the new layout has to work with. That decision sets the scope for everything after it.

Framing was Rick Lua’s trade before he ever held a contractor’s license, and that hands-on start still shapes how we plan a remodel down to the studs behind the tile.

Our office is on Longvue Road, just outside Desert Hot Springs.

Gated La Quinta communities do sometimes review a bathroom project, but usually only when a window or vent stack changes how the house looks from outside. We plan for that check from the start, so it never slows down a job that needs it.

A one-year warranty and a 3-3-3-12 follow-up schedule come with every bathroom we finish. That means a check-in at set points once the job wraps, not a one-time goodbye.

A few Coachella Valley resources are worth a look before your bathroom project starts.

Lua Construction did an outstanding kitchen remodel, which transformed the space. It looks so great they are now redoing 2 bathrooms into one larger spa-like bathroom plus a walk-in closet. I am very pleased with Rick Lua and the professionalism he and his team exhibit. The work they did for me is high quality, looks great, and they have stayed on schedule despite my not being at the property to push for completion while the work was underway. I am very pleased with Lua Construction - so much that this is the 3rd time I have selected them to update my home.

Maria was fantastic to deal with. Called me back when she said she would and was very helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions - La Quinta Remodeling

How much should I budget for a bathroom remodel in La Quinta?

Your final number depends on the layout, the fixtures, and how much of the room changes structurally. A resurfaced tub and new tile is one kind of project. Moving a wall to fit a walk-in shower is another. Every bathroom gets priced on its own, once we have worked through the design agreement together. Layout and fixtures get locked in first, and the number follows from there. Check our pricing page for how we structure that.

Should I replace my tub with a walk-in shower in my La Quinta bathroom?

Many La Quinta homeowners are ready to make that switch. It comes up often in bathrooms from the late 1990s and early 2000s with a standard tub-shower combo. A walk-in shower with a bench and a rain shower head uses the same footprint better. It also works for more people in the house. If you have small children or plan to age in place, keeping one tub somewhere in the home is worth discussing. We walk through that trade-off during the design phase, before the layout is locked in.

Does my HOA need to approve an interior bathroom remodel in La Quinta?

Usually not. Most La Quinta associations review what is visible from the street or a shared fairway. That includes gated communities near Santa Rosa Cove and The Enclave. An interior bathroom remodel that keeps the same windows, walls, and roofline typically falls outside that review. If your project adds a new window or changes a vent stack, check with your association first. We build that check into the design phase either way.

What upgrades make sense in a La Quinta bathroom that is more than 20 years old?

Start with what has aged the most. In bathrooms from the Acacia or Casitas Las Rosas years, that is usually the tub, the tile, and the shower size. Rain shower heads and heated floors are popular upgrades in this design phase. So are custom tile layouts, tiled shower ceilings, and built-in shower benches. Heated floors are worth considering if your bathroom sits on a slab. Desert nights cool down fast, even after a hot day. We work through which upgrades fit your layout in that first planning phase.
